   Paul Morey works for FEMA Region I as both the Earthquake and Hurricane Program Manager. He works closely with federal, state and local agencies and organizations providing earthquake and hurricane related training, technical assistance, preparedness, response, planning and mitigation support.He is a member of the FEMA Hurricane Liaison Team (HLT) and as such has deployed to the National Hurricane Center for Hurricanes Earl (2010), Irene (2011), Sandy (2012), Tropical Storm Karen (2013), Matthew (2016), Irma (2017), as well as to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center for Hurricane Guillermo (2015).Paul has been at FEMA Region I since 2008. Prior to joining FEMA he worked as a National Flood Insurance Program and Floodplain Management Specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). His work at DCR included partnerships with local communities and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency working together on hazard mitigation planning and FEMA’s pre and post disaster hazard mitigation grants. Before starting at MA DCR, Morey was employed as the County Floodplain Manager in Jackson County, Mississippi where he gained firsthand experience responding to and recovering from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.Paul has a Bachelor’s degree in Earth and Geographic Sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He served as a meteorologist in the Massachusetts Air National Guard for six years, supporting the United States Army and Air Force. Paul provided weather support to the United States Army in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.
