ABOUT PAUL MCTERNAN

Urbanist and strategic planning director with specialist knowledge in regeneration, development consultancy, energy planning, heritage and destination development and masterplanning. Elected an eminent member of the RICS in 2012 and a chartered member of the RTPI, Paul joined the global environmental consultancy team at SLR Consulting in 2011. A former Board Director with Colin Buchanan & Partners, Paul has project managed major planning & regeneration development projects across the UK and Ireland. Currently (2025) advising on strategic energy projects for SSE across the UK and Ireland, Beech Regeneration in South Wales ( Energy Park & Data Centre development) and Siga Hydro in Tipperary (Silvermines Pumped Storage Power Station & EU Project of Common Interest). Also continuing to work with Stranraer Development Trust and Dumfries & Galloway Council on the feasibility of a range of visitor economy projects across the South of Scotland and with Scottish Borders Council on a new Strategic Tourism Infrastructure Development Plan. Good to end the year with the Derryounce Lakes Masterplan for Offaly County Council winning at the IPI Planning Awards in Dublin in September and nominated in the Plan Making category for the RTPI Planning Achievement Awards in London in November.Always on the look out for new collaborations.Specialties: Strategic Planning, Energy Masterplanning, Destination Development, Tourism & Regeneration Strategies.
