ABOUT PAUL MCANDREWS

Paul’s practice focuses on intellectual property and technology, with a particular focus on trial and appellate practice. He has been lead counsel and co-counsel on many litigations and mediations throughout the country. His experience covers a wide array of technologies, including telecommunications equipment, multifocal contact lenses, automotive accessories, beverage cans, hospital beds, and a variety of medical devices and equipment.Paul’s clients have regularly obtained positive litigation results. Recently, he was a part of two successful trial teams in Delaware that won favorable patent infringement verdicts just seven months apart. At both trials, Paul examined multiple witnesses, including the inventor of the patents at issue and the sole corporate fact witness of the opposing side. Also on the plaintiff’s side, Paul’s clients have obtained numerous monetary settlements prompted by positive court rulings. On the defensive side of patent and trademark infringement cases, Paul’s successes on behalf of his clients have included judgments of non-infringement and invalidity, as well as admissions of non-infringement resulting in voluntary dismissals by the plaintiff after key rulings in the case. In addition, Paul has represented numerous accused infringers that have settled their respective lawsuits without any money due to the plaintiff, including multiple instances in which the plaintiffs had been seeking over $100 million in damages over the life of the patents. Paul attended law school at the University of Notre Dame (JD 2004) after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Elmhurst College (where he was awarded Elmhurst’s Chairperson’s Award for Excellence in Physics). Prior to that, Paul studied Economics at Northern Illinois University, where he was also a starting defensive end for two years on NIU’s varsity football team.
