General Counsel April 2018 - Chief Counsel UK and Group Intellectual Property: August 2011 - March 2018Senior Legal Counsel: December 2010 to August 2011Legal Counsel: September 2009 to December 2010Main responsibilities include: Legal Strategy - Ensuring that we monitor and meet all statutory and regulatory requirements. Risk - overseeing all risk matters for the UK business. Supporting Senior Stakeholders - Advising UK management team on all legal risks. Commercial Contract Negotiations - Supporting the UK business in a broad range of contractual negotiations, providing advice and drafting as appropriate and leading projects focussing on business objectives. Intellectual Property - Overseeing the Group’s global intellectual property portfolio. Corporate Transactions - Working on various corporate transactions, including the purchase and sale of businesses. Competition - Including working closely with the OFT and Competition Commission. Litigation - Managing a broad range of complex litigation, some of which is multi-jurisdictional. Insurance - Ensuring adequate insurance is in place for all potential liabilities across the group. Training - Educating and training employees so that they can recognise recurring legal issues. Managing external legal spend - Managing external legal counsel and ensuring the right cost-effective advice is provided. Pension Scheme - Company appointed trustee of the UK pension scheme.
