Paul Koppang is a chief financial officer whose industry experience includes healthcare, technology, telecommunications and media.He currently is in charge of the finance function and real estate strategy at Kare Partners. He currently is Executive Director of Healthcare Services Banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He provides advisory services, thought leadership and customized solutions to a portfolio of clients delivering healthcare to patients.In previous roles, Paul was Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services Banking for Fifth Third Bank, Executive Director of Healthcare Services Banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co, Director of Healthcare Corporate Banking for Wells Fargo and Vice President, Investment Banking, covering technology, media and telecommunications for Wells Fargo Securities.Paul is mission driven. It comes from his first career – as a Naval aviator commanding combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and then as a Naval flight instructor teaching other instructors.Or, perhaps this sense of mission is innate. As a kid growing up in Concord, New Hampshire, Paul, like many boys, dreamed of flying. But he actually made it happen. He told his parents he wanted to get his pilot’s license. They told him he had to earn the money for lessons, and he did by working at a local sporting good store. He got his pilot’s license at age 16 – six months after he got his driver’s license.Paul’s love of flying took him to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated with merit with a degree in mechanical engineering. In addition to his studies, Paul played the violin in the pit orchestra during the Academy’s performances. During his nine-year Navy career, Paul was awarded two Navy Achievement Medals. Afterward, he went to business school, earning his MBA from University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.These days Paul’s mission is to serve his clients exceptionally well, helping them with ways to grow, including capital raising and debt structuring strategies. He sees his future missions including a role as a chief financial officer at a growing firm in one of his specialty industries like healthcare.When he’s not working, Paul enjoys running and hanging out with his wife, three children and dog at home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
