ABOUT PAUL KIRKMAN
I work with cultural and creative organisations to help them clarify strategy, strengthen governance and deliver sustainable change. My experience spans leadership roles across museums and government, giving me a broad perspective on how culture, policy and public value intersect. As Director of the National Railway Museum, I led one of Britain’s most visited museums through major transformation, audience renewal and capital planning. Earlier senior roles at the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, HM Treasury and the Natural History Museum built deep understanding of public policy, funding and organisational leadership.Since 2018 I’ve worked with clients across the sector, offering insight, challenge and practical support on:• organisational and business planning• governance and board development• leadership mentoring and interim management• policy and funding strategyI am currently Chair of Nottingham Contemporary and a Trustee of the Royal Armouries. A graduate of the Clore Leadership Programme, I bring both strategic perspective and hands-on experience of leading teams through change.I’m always interested in new projects where experience, diplomacy and a sense of purpose can help organisations move forward.
