ABOUT PAUL JURGENS

Seasoned developer, mentor and small team lead with experience primarily in Python, Pandas, C++, Java and Microsoft SQL Server. Recently focused on the creation of a new security master for futures and options markets for CME, Ice and Eurex including instrument definitions, holiday schedules, trading hours, etc. Previously implemented an equity focused security master for US, Canadian, and European equities. Proficient with data from Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Swaps Monitor, MarkIT and several other vendors. Educated people throughout various parts of the organization about the content contained in the reference data. Collaborated with business groups to monetize the data and minimize risk. Gathered requirements from multiple departments spanning multiple offices, which resulted in becoming a “connector”. Part of a team that evaluated off-the-shelf software packages before designing an in-house custom solution. Other trading related experience includes developing drop copy feed handlers for several exchanges. Other financial experience includes performing cash flow analysis for balance sheet simulations.Development experience concentrated in around object-oriented analysis/design across multiple domains, operating systems, and languages. Mentored bi-weekly sessions about design patterns. Other activities include refactoring towards design patterns, retrofitting unit tests, and profiler driven performance optimizations.
