I am a Professor of Political Science at Reed, having previously taught at Duke University. My areas of specialty are elections and election reform, public opinion, legislative studies, and social science methodology. I have authored or co-authored more than two dozen articles, books, and book chapters.My current research focuses on early voting, modes of balloting by which citizens cast a ballot at a place and time other than at the precinct place on election day.
