CIPFA is the leading authority on accountancy and financial management in the public services. The Institute’s activities include education and training of accountants; the development, setting and maintenance of ethical, professional and technical standards; and the monitoring, analysing and commenting on current policy issues. The Institute’s members and registered students in the UK and overseas are subject to CIPFA’s Disciplinary Scheme.Investigations of disciplinary complaints are conducted by the Institute’s Investigations Unit on instruction from the Investigations Committee. At the conclusion of the investigation, a three-member panel of the Investigations Committee determine whether to exercise the committee’s powers to refer the matter to the Disciplinary Committee, impose one of the lesser sanctions or dismiss the case.
