About Paul Dent
I value architecture as a reconciliation of complementary and conflicting issues, e.g. the individual and society, symbolism and functionalism, transition and permanence, the regional and the universal. The built environment is thus representative of the priorities of the community which it serves. I seek to understand these priorities, through culture, politics, the arts, science, travel, photography, health and sports, and environmental issues. I envision an architecture fully integrated with technology and, particularly, landscape. The University of Oregon was an early leader in sustainability and I have been committed to these values ever since.
