   Responsible for helping create and sustain a healthy business climate free from unnecessary taxes, regulations and fees for multifamily property owners, managers and developers. The Austin housing market in general, and the apartment market in specific, is one of the best in the nation. Broad-based economic gains in the region combined with the area’s already favorable demographics have fueled demand for housing which has generated strong revenue growth for the apartment sector. This growth is evident in the 17,736 apartments under construction in the Austin market with nearly 4,500 of those in the Central Business District and Central Austin. Occupancy across the market is averaging 95.8 percent and rents have steadily been on the rise.To sustain this impressive growth I am responsible for monitoring the local, state and national issues that affect the industry and communicate those issue to the 1,100 members that comprise the Austin Apartment Association In turn, I am responsible for communicating the policy positions of the Board of Directors to government official, regulators, policy leaders, civic leaders and the public at large, and serve as a resource of information and solutions on housing related issues.
