I took a break from drilling engineering (deepwater / international) to start a small manufacturing business (steel fabrication / furniture).I developed the Factory Superstar software to automate my small factory, and various other systems to automate smaller aspects of the business/processes. I got a lot of work from conversations around the software and the systems I developed, so I sold the manufacturing business to focus on Factory Superstar and general consultancy work.My small team now does lots of things related to engineering business digitisation. Our niche is upstream oilfield engineering, but really we do work across a lot of engineering disciplines.Examples of projects- Engineering / manufacturing business digitisation- Operations performance analytics platform and service- Bespoke software for drilling/engineering/manufacturing- Digitised / automated data mining for oil well offset reviews- Electrochemical cell modelling, analysis, and simulation for electric car battery manufacturer- Star tracker (satellite orientation) proof of concept systemI\'ve been programming since 2004, drilling engineer since ~2010, have designed/built lots of machines (electromechanical with bespoke automated control systems) and processes and have significant experience in business process automation / efficiency / digitisation, as well as 6/7 years of hands-on understanding running a low margin manufacturing business with a need for efficiency, when managing a small autonomous team.
