ABOUT PAUL BELANGER
I am a geologist with a research background as a foram micropaleontologist and stable isotope geochemist for the purposes of understanding past. I have a working background in the oil and gas industry. As a result of both my horizons of knowledge and understanding have expanded into the realm of current climate change, fossil fuel energy, energy alternatives as it relates to sustainability of our way of life and that of humanity; see http://denverclimatestudygroup.com/. I presently consult in a mostly regulatory aspect for Kinder Morgan in SW Colorado (Cortez). As a research associate at the Denver Museum of Nature my interests are promoting a better understanding for the public with respect to climate, energy and sustainability. As such I’ve recently applied to IODP for paleoclimate work cited above with forams and stable isotope geochemistry for better understanding of the Indian Ocean Monsoonal development as India collided into the Asian sub-continent. My industry background was as a senior level Geologist with expertise integrating geologic sub-disciplines with seismic and engineering for optimization of exploration plays, prospects and production, integrating field studies, cross-sections to understand facies development, and the structural, sequence and stratigraphic framework of the geologic strata in play. I love geology and the perspective it has given me about the world and love sharing that and expect to develop related courses and lectures. I am an Independent self-motivated worker that nevertheless values team-work, who is goal-oriented and who has a sense of the economic, geologic and engineering hurdles to overcome issues with respect to climate change, energy and sustainability.
