ABOUT PATTY HERNANDEZ

My vision as an education and community leader is to inspire a passion for the community in which you live and work. I’m passionate about exposing students to educational opportunities that provide them an amazing future. I believe we can change the workforce, our communities, & eliminate poverty by educating all children. School-community (SC) partnerships play an essential role in successful schools and communities, often providing support and resources to meet the needs of staff, students, and the families that go beyond the classroom. SC partnerships help graduate students who are empowered learners with the skills necessary to compete in the global environment. SC partnerships give students real-world experience before entering their first career, strengthen the local economy, provide our communities with an educated and flexible workforce, connect core curriculum beyond the classroom by attracting the right people and asking the right questions and prepare students for jobs that do not even exist today.I am the Principal of TAGOS Leadership Academy & the ARISE Virtual Academy for Janesville School District. I believe it is important to equip every student who is going through our schools with the resources and education they need to choose the best post-secondary path for themselves. As a former instructional coach, I mentored other teachers in building their teaching skills, assisted others in applying new knowledge, and provided ongoing professional development. I received my B.S. degree from the UW-Stout in Home Economics Education in 1994. After college, I moved to Kenosha, WI, and began working as a Family and Consumer Science teacher. I continued my love of learning and completed my M.S. degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Instruction in 2005. I completed my coursework and received my CTEC certification through UW-Stout in 2014. Lastly, I received a doctoral degree from Edgewood College in February of 2021.
