Shining Light Homes a 501c3 non-profit organization has been birthed from a vision to empower young women due to an unplanned pregnancy to become successful mothers raising their children on their own when there is little to no support from family or the father of the baby. Many young women in this situation struggle financially due to their inability to acquire transportation, child care or a job. This struggle can cause them to become homeless or force them to make unwise decisions that can jeopardize the welfare and safety of themselves and their children. The goal of Shining Light Homes is to help these young mothers to become self-sufficient and productive citizens in their community moving them from homelessness without hope to a home with a successful future for them and their babies.The mission of Shining Light Homes is to provide supervised transitional housing in the Hampton Roads area for single mothers either pregnant or having no more than two children under age 4 for up to two years. The goal of Shining Light Homes is to help these single mothers to become self-sufficient productive citizens in their community moving them from homelessness to a home having a job, child care and transportation. Shining Light Homes provides education and training, counseling, goal setting, spiritual support and guidance connecting them to local resources and assistance while making important decisions for their future and the future of their babies.
