About Patrick Perdu

I have been designing high-tech machines and the world around them for the last 25 years with roles spanning the whole gamut from concept and requirements capture to electronics design, coding, debugging, testing and field intervention, which gives me a unique viewpoint on what makes a device successful.My first job as third-level support manager for industrial laser printers taught me by night at customer sites what aspects of a machine are important for reliability and maintainability, and the users’ primary concerns.It also taught me that no problem resists a good cooperative team and that challenging technical issues leave no room for ego.I applied these lessons ever since: designing industrial laser printers at Xerox, power management modules on the beaches of Costa Rica or medical devices for Defibtech.In these roles I could express my creativity through, among other projects:• The whole code for Defibtech AEDs’ graphic PCB (ECG, video, language packages including Chinese, Arabic or Thai…), on bare silicon (ARM).• My very own Print Line Bus, the de facto standard for Xerox industrial print lines synchronization.• I wrote the Xerox white paper on Continuous feed paper path.• Numerous tools for production, resource packages creations or data analysis tools for Defibtech AED and ARM field logs.• The touch-UI I designed for Xerox as early as 1996 inspired both Siemens/Océ and IBM.• PCI PCB including the VHDL for FPGAs driving the 10 lasers of a 700 pages per minute printer.I am at ease both with theoretical analysis and with a pragmatic heuristic; with the general or an ad-hoc solution to the problem at hand, the key being to know when to use which.I can manage projects and products, support sales and I am confident interacting constructively with all actors, from marketing and clients to production, maintenance and customer service.I believe the most important asset of a company is its people as the motor of its growth, the source of its creativity and the repository of its culture.

   Responsable technique de l\'équipe Logiciel Embarqué sur le site d\'Akron, Ohio, je supervise les travaux sur plusieurs projets électriques et électromécaniques.Dans le même temps je m\'occupe de la définition des processus, de l\'analyse des risques système, de l\'établissement des cahiers des charges et de l\'architecture logicielle. Je contribue personnellement environ la moitié du code (C) du système de sauvetage du dirigeable.J\'ai trouvé à LTA une équipe remarquablement talentueuse centrée sur un projet merveilleux auquel elle croit vraiment. J\'ai l\'honneur d\'avoir été intégré instantanément et de voir de jeunes ingénieurs venir me demander conseil en logiciel mais aussi et surtout aux niveaux système, électronique et mécanique. Je me fais un devoir de les écouter vraiment et de les aider dans la mesure de mes moyens.
