About Patrick Koeppl
I have more than 30 years’ experience in conducting social and behavioral health communications research and evaluation in a variety of settings. As a Director in Deloitte’s Federal Health practices, I am an applied anthropologist with extensive research experience in public health and health policy, social media monitoring, data analytics, market research, programmatic evaluation, and health communications. I am the founding partner of Deloitte\'s Evaluation & Research for Action (ERA) center of excellence, an applied research practice with more than 600 active professionals. I oversee all formative, process, impact, and outcome research for Deloitte\'s government, nonprofit, and private-sector clients. I specialize in the use of social science and behavioral research strategies to inform and motivate human behavior for improvements in public health and informs health policy. My areas of emphasis include risk communications; social media monitoring, analytics and strategies; program evaluation; public and community health; quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis (including advanced statistical analyses); and, public health informatics. I was the principal investigator for FDA CDER’s Risk Communications Assessment initiative, the project that FDA has called its most comprehensive evaluation of risk communications in the agency’s history. In that project, I was the primary analyst of social media monitoring and data collection on the performance of FDA’s drug safety communications (DSCs) in cyberspace. I have also worked with the CDC on social media monitoring, data analytics and health informatics, and emergency preparedness and response. Prior to joining Deloitte, I was VP of Matthews Media Group, Inc, where I directed the research and evaluation department’s efforts in public health, informatics and data analytics, and pharmaceutical and Federal clinical trials promotion and enrollment. I hold a BA in anthropology from the University of Notre Dame, an MA in applied cultural anthropology from Northern Arizona University, and a PhD in behavioral and community health from the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health.
