I am passionate about the environment and making the world better through smarter decisions for water and wastewater treatment. I understand that the power of competitive thought and process, when leveraged appropriately can be the key tool for enabling a better environment for all. I am the CEO and founder of SENTRY SENTRY is a bio-electrode sensor platform that provides real-time microbial performance monitoring and optimization of anaerobic and aerobic wastewater treatment systems. Patrick is trained as an environmental microbiologist with over 20 years experience in the fields of molecular microbiology, microbial ecology and next generation wastewater / bio-energy applications. Throughout his career Patrick has been instrumental in building academic and corporate research and development programs, while engaging in research collaborations with prestigious academic institutions including: Penn State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Illinois, Carleton University, Dalhousie University and West Point Military Academy. He is a member of the Clean Technology Advisory Council to the Canadian Trade Commissioners Service and passionate about promoting next-generation water solutions to a global audience. Key academic discoveries have been related to the identification of novel genes and processes associated with the colonization of the plant rhizosphere and human epithelial cell lines and characterizing the diverse communities present on electrodes of bio-electrochemical systems and next generation wastewater treatment technologies. Patrick has developed unique processes for reducing resources required to take complex technologies from bench to market by incorporating key aspects of business development, IP landscaping, economic / technology modeling and bench to pilot prototyping. His industry research has led to the commercialization of new solutions for industry (winery, brewery, aquaculture) and domestic wastewater treatment. He has developed water solutions for a variety of public partners including: NASA U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) United States Army Patrick’s goal is to provide a technology development ecosystem that is focused on continuing to identify needs and provide solutions for customers that are both economically and environmentally sustainable.
