About Patrick Whalen
As a Test Engineer working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, I support the development of the next generation space suit for use on the ISS and lunar missions. My role includes development of test support equipment and conducting tests of our advanced space suit and its portable life support system and components. I have previous work experience in proof load testing, FEA verification and validation testing with strain gages and Digital Image Correlation, calibration of load measurement units, and other full-scale testing, and have designed fixtures and equipment to test a wide range of equipment used in a variety of industries.I graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in December 2013, became a licensed Professional Engineer in March 2018, and am pursuing my Masters in Space Systems from Florida Tech. In addition to aerospace and life support technologies, my technical interests include the renewable energy sector, especially wind energy.
