ABOUT PATRICK STIEGMAN
As Vice President / Editor-in-Chief for Footballco U.S, Stiegman sets the editorial vision and execution of the fastest-growing digital media platform for soccer fans in the region, including editorial oversight of GOAL and INDIVISA. Collaborating closely with the strategic, commercial and content teams in the U.S. and across the global Footballco organization, he is responsible for editorial direction, storytelling and audience expansion for both fans of U.S. soccer and soccer fans in the U.S. With more than 30 years of experience, he has a proven track record of driving growth, innovation, and editorial excellence for leading media brands. For 20 years, the eight-time Emmy-award winner catalyzed growth for one of world\'s largest and most innovative media organizations, The Walt Disney Company, both as VP/ Editor-in-Chief of ESPN.com and as VP/Editorial Director, Global Digital Content, overseeing the development of ESPN’s digital editorial across the world. The architect of ESPN FC, he also oversaw editorial coverage for eight FIFA World Cups - four each for men’s and women’s competitions - including leading teams on site for both the 2014 World Cup and 2018 event in Russia. He also covered 30 Super Bowls, and numerous Olympics, NBA, MLB, college, tennis and cricket championships.As head of global digital content at ESPN, he defined the strategic vision and led editorial efforts for 25 international digital editions of ESPN, plus verticals such as ESPNCricinfo. He collaborated with leaders across ESPN and business partners in Disney International. His role included influencing and developing a forward-thinking staff, inspiring a global workforce and creating unified, multicultural, multi-national, diverse and inclusive teams.He chaired the ESPN Editorial Board - a company-wide, cross-disciplinary team of leaders establishing editorial standards and practices - was the Editorial Director for the award-winning ESPN The Magazine and guided ESPN’s world-class enterprise journalism. Prior to ESPN, he spent five years as VP and Editor of Journal Interactive, the award-winning Internet division of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, after starting his career as a sportswriter and columnist.Stiegman was a 2012 Fellow in the Sulzberger Executive Leadership program at the Graduate School of Journalism and School of Business at Columbia University. He was an honors graduate and journalism major at the University of Wisconsin, where he was a University Scholar in the UW-Oshkosh Journalism School, and also minored in communications and political science.
