ABOUT PATRICK SCHULZ
I am advising companies, investors, sponsors and secured and unsecured creditors on financial and operational restructurings both outside and in the context of insolvency proceedings. My focus is on cross-border and multinational restructurings and distressed transactions, in particular in cases involving complex financing structures. I also advise on all aspects of German insolvency and restructuring law.Legal 50•••23 recognized me as the only Rising Star for Restructuring Germany, with clients praising me as being \"professionally outstanding, an absolute pleasure to work with, responding very well to the clients\' needs with excellent availability.\" I am further ranked as one of the leading restructuring lawyers in Germany (WirtschaftsWoche ranking 2023).Prior to joining Sidley in 2017, I was an associate in the banking/restructuring and insolvency practice of another international law firm.While working on my Ph.D, I served for several years as a research associate to the Chair of Civil and Civil Procedure Law at the University of Mainz. My thesis on debt-to-equity-swaps has been awarded with multiple awards for academic excellence. Furthermore, I taught at King’s College London and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as visiting lecturer.
