Mr. Slavin is a senior communications executive with a record of producing high-quality content resulting in greater visibility for clients in the public and private sector, including the United Nations, Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Medical School, and the Brigham and Women\'s Hospital. Currently Senior Communications Lead with the Gender Equity Unit at the Department of Health, Behavior & Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore. A former UN communications staff member specializing in public health, climate change, and humanitarian emergencies, Mr. Slavin served with UNICEF in Pakistan, Jerusalem, New York, Haiti, and across Africa from 19••••19. In Islamabad, he served as a senior communications manager on UNICEF\'s Polio Eradication Team, overseeing advocacy and media strategies for protecting nearly 40 million children annually from polio; managing a US$10 million annual budget; supervising a staff of 16 in five field offices and more than 1,200 contract employees. He also designed a cross-border polio eradication communication strategy with UNICEF Afghanistan. While working for UNICEF in Zambia, Mr. Slavin founded a children\'s climate change ambassador program which inspired thousands of children to advocate for climate change mitigation and reduction. He also worked with Zambian children to raise to build a flood-resistant school on the remote Zambezi River floodplain. An author and former foreign correspondent, he is published in the Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Economist Intelligence Unit, among many others. A native of New York City, he is a graduate of the New School with a MS. in International Affairs and the University of California, Berkeley, BA Rhetoric, where he was captain of the Men’s Varsity Heavyweight Crew Team. At the New School, he was awarded a President\'s Scholarship for Academic Merit. He was a silver medalist in rowing at the U.S. Olympic Youth Development Festival in Colorado Springs and a member of the Vesper Boat Club.
