ABOUT PATRICK OCHIENG

As a college professor with extensive teaching experience in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology, I currently teach courses in Biochemistry, Intro to Organic Chemistry, and General Chemistry. My research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind breast cancer progression and treatment, as well as studying pathogen-host interactions through RNA-RNA and RNA-protein interactions using biochemical, biophysical, and molecular biology techniques. I am deeply passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping students develop critical thinking skills that foster research and innovation. My research interests center on protein-ligand, RNA-RNA, and RNA-protein interactions that govern essential biological processes. These interactions link molecular structures with specific functions, which are crucial for rational drug design and discovery. By exploring atomic-level interactions between macromolecules and their ligands, we can develop targeted therapies to modulate molecular functions for treating both communicable and non-communicable diseases.**Specialties:**- DNA Recombinant Technology- Protein Expression, Purification & Quantification- Circular Dichroism for Secondary Structure Determination- Mass Spectrometry- UV Spectroscopy- Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)- Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC)- Single and Multi-Dimensional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)- In vitro RNA Synthesis and Quantification- Computational Molecular Dynamics Simulations- College Teaching, Research Training, and Student Mentorship
