ABOUT PATRICK OGALLAGHER

I\'ve been working for Arcadis since July 2016 focusing on working with in the Business Advisory team in Exeter whilst acting as Project Manager on our own office refurbishment to bring 2 local office under one roof. Now working with the GMH team concentrating on Education and Public Sector clients in the South West.Working at Vickery Holman, Plymouth, for 18 months as a Graduate Building Surveyor within a large surveying department. I oversaw minor works contracts, multiple dilapidation works, a thermal upgrade to residential building and major projects, including the contract administration for insurance works following major storm damage on Plymouth waterfront. I was also heavily involved in the preparation and issuing of Condition Improvement Fund consultancy advise, helping to secure funds from central government for local schools/academies, both primary and secondary.During this employment, starting in April 2015, I have been working towards my MRICS accreditation.I studied at the University of Plymouth obtaining a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying and the Environment, which has enabled me to develop the specialist knowledge and skills essential for a career within the property world. The three year course included modules in building surveying practice, property and environmental law, development management, and sustainability and safe construction, all of which lead to an understanding of the principles of building surveying, management, sustainability and environmental issues, as well as an awareness of the technical and professional aspects required when dealing with the care and development of property.
