Patrick O’Connell is the Associate Vice President of Advancement at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Pat leads North American development for Boldly AUB: The Campaign to Lead, Innovate, and Serve. Boldly AUB is a $650 million campaign and is the largest campaign in the region’s history.Pat has more than 20 years of fundraising experience from Columbia University, the University of Oxford and WNET (PBS). As Head of Development for the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division at Oxford, Pat led development efforts for 10 academic departments during the university\'s £3 billion \"Oxford Thinking\" campaign. Pat’s experience extends to the $6 billion Columbia Campaign as well as the $150 million Campaign for Thirteen, the largest campaign in the history of Public Television.A graduate of Washington and Lee University, Pat also has an MS in Non-Profit Management (2006 Class Marshal) and an MPA in Advanced Management and Finance from Columbia University. He completed his studies in 2014 by earning a certificate in Education from the University of Oxford. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the Columbia University Non-Profit Management Program since 2012.Pat has lectured on issues of higher education and philanthropy at Nelson Mandela University, Universitad Catholica de Chile, the University of Bologna, the University of Oxford, International House New York and at numerous CASE and AFP conferences in the United States and Europe. Pat teaches the graduate level course, “Fundraising for Large Institutions: EDs and MEDs.”In his free time, Pat enjoys stand-up comedy and has performed at The Comic Strip, Caroline’s on Broadway, and the London Comedy Club. He lives in Bronxville, NY and is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. He enjoys spending time with his wife Antoinette and two children, James and Catherine.
