About Patrick McKinley

My experience in the field of industrial Automation has given me the opportunity to see many challenges and the various ways in which Industrial automation can help mitigate, control and often eliminate these challenges, as well as greatly improve the production process. I’ve been able to take ageing machines with relay logic that had limited control options and recommission them with cost effective PLC’s and HMI’s. This allowed the company to track production, lower manufacturing costs, reduce waste, and monitor many more aspects of the machines. These upgrades helped to ensure that each recipe setpoint could easily be recalled and set per product and make certain the machines were maintaining the setpoints within the established tolerances. I was also able to change many of the Control Techniques DC drives over to PowerFlex 755 AC drives. By adding encoders to the processes, we were able to utilize Torque mode to maintain tighter tolerances in the web handling applications, thus increasing accuracy and repeatability. After each upgrade, I was responsible for providing instruction to operators in response to the new changes.
