Hi, I\'m Patrick Legarreta, a Power Systems Protection Engineer with a passion for solving complex electrical problems and working with others to foster our growth of knowledge and experience. I have developed a deep understanding of the electric power industry through experience across a multitude of fields (Distribution, Substation, Transmission). This broad field of experience has afforded me an equally wide variety of skills.As a Power Systems Protection Engineer, I’ve developed expertise in multiple topics such as Harmonics mitigation, IEC-61850 implementation, Interconnection studies, Arc Flash studies, Coordination studies, creation of Device Design Guides, and more. This project expertise couples with a deep understanding of electrical theory necessary to fully grasp complex conceptual concepts. My work has also branched into power systems reliability through system balancing, voltage regulation, and circuit planning in the Distribution grid. This experience has helped aid in supporting clients with analysis of their SAIDI/SAIFI information to suggest solutions to ensure reliability improvements. I also possess significant experience in system testing and troubleshooting of both protection and communication systems, as well as hands-on knowledge of IEC-61850 site testing and commissioning. Coupled with this technical experience, I place a large importance on both client satisfaction and effective project execution. This value in client satisfaction has led to developing project management improvements through workflow optimization, aiding in project process creations/client standards, as well as developing automation tools to improve project efficiency. Using VBA and SQL, I have implemented large scale automation tools to drastically reduce project timelines and necessary quality reviews.My passion for innovation and continuous learning drives me to stay at the forefront of industry advancements. I\'m currently writing technical white papers for harmonics mitigation, usage of automation tools in the industry, and custom logic schemes using IEC-61850.
