About Patrick Casey
As a criminal and white collar defense lawyer with decades in public service and private practice, I’m deeply committed to both the constitutional rights of individuals and to the integrity of our justice system. To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt, we must be willing to be “in the arena,” ready to fight for the worthy causes of justice and freedom. That crucial American ideal informs my work on behalf of my clients. I pursue every avenue of defense and strategize on multiple levels to protect clients from threats to their careers and their freedom. While I strive to ensure that my clients stay out of court and out of the public eye, I won’t hesitate to take the fight to the courtroom if necessary. Before entering private practice, I spent 12 years with the Federal Public Defender\'s Office in the Middle District of Pennsylvania, defending individuals who were unable to retain a private criminal lawyer against federal criminal charges. Certified as a Criminal Trial Law Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 2002, I’ve spent more than two decades at Myers Brier and Kelly advocating for high-profile judges, elected officials, civil servants, doctors, corporate officers, and law enforcement and military personnel among others.I’ve guided clients through grand jury testimony, federal and state criminal and regulatory investigations, allegations of public corruption, and professional licensing and ethics board proceedings. I’ve served as lead counsel in investigations and litigation involving allegations of bank fraud, wire and mail fraud, tax evasion, counterfeiting including art theft, obstruction of justice, bribery, the False Claims Act and other white-collar crimes. Many of my cases involve complex and often-sensitive allegations, intricate issues of constitutional law and immunity, extensive fact and expert discovery, and the potential for multiple, parallel criminal and civil investigations and claims. As a partner at MBK, I am part of a deep and diverse bench of lawyers, skilled practitioners in health care law, tax law, estate planning and wealth preservation, commercial litigation and appellate advocacy, among other areas. We share a commitment to respect and protect the rights and livelihood of the individual, to keep clients out of the courtroom and the headlines whenever possible, and to give every ounce of ourselves in the arena.
