Support HHI (Hardware & Home Improvement) Division Brands (Kwikset, Weiser, Baldwin, Tell) for design, testing, qualification, and product launch of electromechanical deadbolts, levers, and door hardware• Incorporating Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing principles on all designs, identifying features and dimensions critical to quality of product• Designing components and assemblies for various manufacturing process - stamping, die casting, injection molding, and traditional machining • Working closely with multifunctional teams, comprised of various engineering disciplines, quality, technical project management, sourcing, and contract manufacturers• Material selection for a broad range of components based upon product requirements and manufacturing processes – steel, zinc, plastic, silicone/rubber, brass• Travel to international manufacturing and assembly plant to support NPI pre-pilot run build, providing mechanical engineering direction to quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams• Perform root cause analyses for sustaining and reliability efforts on legacy electronic door lock products and provide solutions via redesign or requalification of suppliers• Updated internal testing requirements document to incorporate new thermal/humidity and condensation testing for electromechanical deadbolts• Rapid prototyping of components by 3D printing or hands-on machining to ensure fit, form, function in a timely manner• Tolerance stack-up of assembly features to ensure sigma score can be met, accounting for required Cpk values for critical dimensions• Perform lifecycle, environmental, and stress testing on products• Update of internal testing requirements & redesign of testing fixtures
