ABOUT PATRICIA C. FRYE
I am a pediatrician and an integrative medicine physician, board-certified in both Pediatrics and Lifestyle Medicine, with more than 40 years of clinical experience. My private integrative practice focuses primarily on adult patients with chronic and complex conditions including chronic pain, obesity, autoimmune disease, diabetes/insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), neurodegenerative conditions, dyslipidemia, and other long-standing metabolic and inflammatory disorders.Pediatric care within my practice is limited to children with chronic or treatment-resistant conditions such as seizure disorders, chronic pain syndromes, mitochondrial disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, anxiety disorders, and co-existing conditions associated with autism spectrum disorder, where integrative therapies and, when appropriate, cannabis-based medicines may provide benefit. Primary pediatric care is otherwise provided through locum tenens work in private practices and federally qualified health centers. My clinical approach emphasizes evidence-based integrative therapeutics, including nutrition, sleep optimization, stress management, exercise, body composition and fat regulation, self-care strategies, and the judicious use of vitamins and supplements. When clinically indicated, I incorporate cannabis and cannabinoid-based therapeutics, guiding patients on how to use cannabinoids as medicine while avoiding impairment, drug -to-drug interactions, and other adverse effects. After completing the Harvard University Blackburn Obesity Medicine CME and Board Review, I have six years of experience in obesity medicine for both adults and children. My approach combines lifestyle interventions with pharmacologic therapy, including GLP-1 medications when appropriate, to help patients safely reduce excess adiposity, improve metabolic health, and decrease inflammation. In addition to my clinical work, I am a lecturer, author, and consultant on the science and medical use of cannabis for healthcare professionals and patients. I have authored numerous educational modules and have delivered lectures to medical audiences nationally and internationally. I am also the author of The Medical Marijuana Guide: Cannabis and Your Health, which provides balanced, evidence-based information on both the therapeutic potential and limitations of cannabis medicine. My mission is to empower both patients and other health care providers with the knowledge and tools necessary to optimize patient health outcomes, improve quality of life, and enhance patient wellness and satisfaction.
