About Patricia Odero
I believe in the power of innovation to change lives. Drawing on my experience working in the public sector, private sector, international development and academia, I bring multiple perspectives to support value-driven partnerships that solve big problems such as poor maternal health, youth unemployment and the roadblocks faced by entrepreneurs seeking to scale their ventures.Early in my medical career I realized my natural inclination to solve problems creatively for lasting change. I therefore moved from clinical practice to leading a new business unit at a regional health insurance company where we doubled profits by introducing new models of partnerships with our key stakeholders. Driving new ways of thinking in the public sector was my next frontier and I have supported the introduction of new policies to tackle emerging health issues, such as non-communicable diseases and pandemics, while improving sustainable financing for healthcare. I have also facilitated public-private partnerships that have led to improved Chief Executive Officers & employee wellness, quality standards for imported medical devices and better healthcare waste management. As a change maker, I seek to lead and grow teams that help organisations and public sector systems to audaciously develop new solutions to global challenges. I have experience managing budgets, developing impact metrics and managing multi-year projects. Through publication and speaking opportunities, I provide thought leadership on innovation for systems change. I continue to look for new ways to help organisations, national and regional systems promote sustainable development. My Key Achievements Include; Provided strategic support to two Regional Economic Communities (RECs) covering 22 African countries on health system transformation initiatives in universal healthcare and big data. Established multiple partnerships with private and public sector partners around initiatives such as Kenya’s first health hackathon sponsored by Google, BD, Merck and Philips. Mentored 10 growth-stage social ventures in Innovations in Healthcare’s network that raised over $20 million in funding from philanthropic and venture capital funders. My expertise is;Strategic Partnerships | Change Management | Human Resources | Technical Issues | Performance Management | Government Relations | Sustainable Development | Business Plan | Entrepreneurship | Problem Solving | Innovation | Budget Management | Recruitment | Staffing | Program Manager | Business Development | Leadership | Training | Systems Change Lead |
