ABOUT PATTY NARVAEZ-WHEELER
People and Culture Nerd. Equity, Belonging & Cultural Humility Consultant. Small Business Owner. Adult Learning Specialist. Anti-Oppressive Social Worker. Mama of. Nicaraguense. Creating transformative change in organizations and institutions is not easy. My Business: At Practica Consulting, we believe in the power of knowledge + action to create transformation, or in Spanish, concientización. Our services in organizational assessment, learning solutions, and qualitative research help organizations and people align their practices with the racial equity, diversity, and inclusion outcomes they seek to achieve and the values they espouse. My Passion: Designing and facilitating adult learning experiences about antiracism and implicit bias to empower professionals with knowledge and skills that activate change and create space to imagine new ways of being. My Experience: I bring 15+ years of developing and implementing racial equity, diversity, and inclusion strategies and programs in health, social services, child welfare, global economic development, and the workforce, primarily in the nonprofit and public sectors. Two years abroad in US foreign policy justice work and many years in social work in the Pacific Northwest followed and rooted me in cultural humility and a deep commitment to institutional change work. The last decade specifically brought rich experiences in building the capacity of people and organizations to prioritize racial equity and inclusion through learning, practice, storytelling, and data. My learning: That listening, learning, strategy, power sharing, relationship building, and accountability pave the way to the transformation employees, community, clients, and service users want, see and feel. Better outcomes for people make for better outcomes for organizations too. 🫶My Why: I do this work for my lineage and collective love and liberation. I\'m compelled by the stories of employees, community members, leaders, and activists seeking and building a better way, and our shared human needs to be seen, valued, safe, and free.
