About Patricia Mace

Creating inclusive spaces where meaningful dialogue can take place is my ikigai (reason for being). I am particularly passionate about bringing unheard or silenced voices to the metaphorical table. I previously worked as a policy facilitator, ensuring that public engagement processes were collaborative and inclusive for diverse stakeholders who will ultimately be impacted by policy decisions and outcomes. At Brown University, I relaunched the Community Dialogue Project, which included designing and implementing collaborative processes such as facilitations and mediations for students in conflict, as well as designing and delivering training to advance the Community Dialogue Project’s mission. In my spare time, I volunteer as a mediator where I work with diverse parties that share a conflict and use the facilitative model to help them problem-solve together. I am fascinated by why we gather and can often be found reading a book tangentially related to the field, which makes me an enthusiastic member of the Continuing Education Committee at the Center for Conflict Resolution. I work closely with volunteer mediators to organize monthly programming related to new and emerging topics in mediation and conflict resolution. My passion for mediation turns from student to teacher as I have the pleasure of coaching new mediators working towards their certification, and I have coached over 100 aspiring mediators.I am curious and always ask questions, which makes it easy for me to fall down research rabbit holes, but I always come out on the other end with something related to how and why we gather. Currently, I am asking questions about why we see such little diversity at the international level of conflict resolution. I currently work at the City of Bellevue, where I enhance residents\' problem-solving capacity and conflict competence through coaching and conciliation. I previously worked at UN Women, where I researched security education and training as well as relaunched the UN Women Young Professionals Programme, a UN Mission visitation programme where interns and consultants learned more about women, peace, and security. During my time there, I also researched the disparities in UN internal and external policies. I am fascinated by disparities in organizations\' espoused and lived values, and I am always working to align my own espoused and practiced values, which means I will always thank you for the feedback, regardless of whether it redirects or reaffirms. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me. Let\'s connect!
