ABOUT PATRICIA HAYES
Tricia Hayes is Chair of the British Transport Police Authority and Chair of London TravelWatch, London\'s statutory independent transport watchdog. She is a member of the Boards of the Building Safety Regulator and Transport Focus. She is a senior adviser at Baringa and a Member of Baringa’s Advisory Panel.Tricia is a former civil service Permanent Secretary. Her most recent role was as Second Permanent Secretary at the Home Office serving from July 2021 to April 2023. She was previously Director General, Crime, Policing and Fire in the Home Office from February 2020, and Director General, Public Safety from April 2021. As Director General, Public Safety she was responsible for reducing crime, supporting victims and protecting the vulnerable. Tricia spent most of her career in the Department for Transport which she first joined in 1987, with roles covering almost all modes of transport, including rail, road, aviation and sustainable travel issues. Tricia is originally from Armagh in Northern Ireland, and is married with three children. She was appointed as a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the New Year Honours List 2019. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation.
