About Patience Riley
I am the Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Speaker, and Writer behind WHOA MAMA. Through my platform, I equip women with simple but effective ways to incorporate mental health techniques in their day-to-day life. With a decade of experience as a Licensed Therapist, I use my personal and professional experiences to advocate, empower, and work with expecting & current mothers/birthing people, professionals, and the public to equip them in dealing with mental health issues throughout life and motherhood. I have been featured in Vanity Fair London, and Shoutout Atlanta and contributed articles & blog posts to Mantra Wellness Magazine, Military Spouse Magazine, and the Wounded Warrior Project. In addition, I have partnered with organizations like Maternal Mental Health Policy Center, Service Women Action Network, Project NICU, and Brazelton Touchpoints Center. Organizers praise my practical approach to explaining complex techniques, while audience members highlight the comfortable environment I create to explore mental health issues. My prior professional experience includes serving as a mental health counselor within a juvenile detention center, intake clinician at a psychiatric hospital, call center clinician for a 24-hour crisis line, behavioral health therapist/care manager for a community health agency, and counselor at a military installation. Throughout my career, I have learned the importance of education, prevention, and seeking assistance for one\'s mental health before it becomes a crisis. This has fueled my mission of equipping people with simple and sustainable mental health tools to improve their day-to-day life.
