ABOUT PATIENCE MUKOSA

I have over 20 years’ experience working within the Health and Social Care.I lead a multi-award winning team.I have experience working with adults diagnosed with autism or/and intellectual disabilities or other developmental disorders, who also sometimes present with personality problems, comorbid psychiatric problems, or behaviour problems. I have developed wide range of skills, participating actively and, taking a lead, in carrying out specified assessments and reports, including reports for pre-admission, transition, placement review, and discharge planning. I work collaboratively with clinicians and other multidisciplinary team members to establish a conducive environment for interventions and therapeutic activities, carried out individually with people we support and in groups, directly or indirectly by proxy. As one of the longest serving staff, I take a lead in many unit- and community-based activities, giving direction and mentoring less confident or new staff. Other colleagues benefit from my lead in organizing review meetings with MDT members and other external stakeholders. I ensure effective written and verbal communication within the system and with external agencies and all relevant stakeholders. I am a person-centred Registered Manager, working closely and collaboratively with the people we support in the formulation of their needs and intervention planning. I work closely with them and their families to ensure that their best interests are represented and that they have opportunity to consent to decisions about them, where appropriate. I am resistant to pressure and perseveres in difficult situations. I am hardworking, proactive and conscientious key staff, with a well-developed sense of integrity. I take initiative where necessary and seeks supervision or consultation when needed. I am an excellent team worker and possesses excellent listening skills.
