About Partik Kumar

I completed my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) in March 2025. My doctoral research is focused on developing computationally efficient and accurate Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) frameworks. These frameworks help power utility companies understand consumer appliance usage patterns using smart meter data. My research incorporates factorial hidden Markov models, optimization, time-series analysis, and various machine learning concepts for load synthesis in power distribution networks. The outcomes of my Ph.D. thesis work offer robust frameworks for NILM, crucial for enhancing demand-side management (DSM) measures. My Ph.D. research was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, under the joint India-UK project titled Community Scale Energy Demand Reduction in India (CEDRI). Additionally, I have contributed to developing a market clearing framework, which includes linearized optimal power flow (OPF) formulations and locational marginal price (LMP) calculations for distribution networks integrated with distributed energy resources. I was part of the Battery Modelling and Analytics team at EEPlus Inc, working as a Power System Optimization and Data Analytics Engineer. In this role, I developed advanced statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models for electricity price forecasting in the U.S. electricity market. Currently, I am working as a consultant with Deloitte, applying expertise in power system optimization and data analytics to various projects. I am passionate about leveraging my expertise to drive innovation and advancements in the field of electric power systems, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable energy future. Thank you for visiting my profile, and I welcome the opportunity to connect with fellow professionals to explore potential collaborations, exchange ideas, and make a meaningful impact in the field of energy demand reduction and beyond.
