ABOUT PARTHA SENGUPTA

I have been an NHS consultant gynaecologist since 2004, and the Gynaecological Cancer Lead Clinician for my NHS Trust. I also practice privately in the Spire Washington Hospital. I aim to provide the same standard of gynaecology care in both my NHS and private practice, ensuring the scope of practice is the same in both roles. I am focused on patient-centred care, especially in gynaecological cancer diagnosis and treatment, working in multi-disciplinary settings. This includes management of abnormal smears (colposcopy), and vulval problems, advanced Minimal Access Surgery (laparoscopic or keyhole surgery) and complex gynaecological surgery, as well as genetic cancer risk reduction. Currently I am training in Robotic Surgery using the Intuitive da Vinci Xi system. Having successfully recruited to several national research trials as the local Principal Investigator, I was a Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland, Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellbeing from 20••••23 (relinquished due to work pressures). As part of my private practice, I am the only northeast provider of the Erbium:YAG Juliet \"Cool\" Laser for several Gynaecological Conditions. I provide expert medico-legal reports on clinical negligence in gynaecology (including colposcopy, cervical screening, oncology, surgery, and general gynaecology). In addition, I am the lead preceptor for training in gynaecological laparoscopic surgery in the northeast. Nationally, I have been a member of the BSCCP Certification & Training Committee, BGCS Council & Trainers Committee (including redesigning RCOG training for oncology and surgery) and helped review PHE rapid cancer diagnostic pathways.
