ABOUT PARRISH PAINTINGS

I am a self employed Fine Artist and Illustrator who has always dreamed of doing Fine Art for a living from childhood. I have always enjoyed painting and drawing and had a particular interest in drawing and painting steam locomotives Having seen the artwork of famous artist and railway artist of the 20th century, Terence Cuneo, gracing model railway catalogue covers in the 1970s only made me more inspired to pursue my dream of becoming a railway artist. My dream came true in 1995 when I became a professional full time Oil Painter. After joining the Guild of Railway artists in 1993 as an associate member based in Warwick. I went on to exhibit with them as a railway artist and was elected as a Full Member by the Guild Council on 30 September 2018 at Kidderminster Railway Museum. My other love is painting portrait busts of famous people, again using the oil medium. It followed a career in Civil/Structural Engineering, employed as a Technician Engineer/Design/Draftsman spanning 24 years from 1971 working on a permanent/contract basis in UK and overseas. I very often liaised with Architects and other Engineering disciplines on various projects in the Drawing Office. My artwork styles have been likened to esteemed artists such as John Atkinson Grimshaw (18••••93) from UK and Belgian artist Rene Magritte (18••••67) by art lovers. I paint from the heart and in the oil medium and have created artwork in many different styles over the years in both monochrome and colour from commissioned projects and my own, including the following genre: Steam Railways Canal Scenes Local Scenes around Royal Leamington Spa Historic Buildings The Bygone Age Outer Space The Celestial Rock star portraits and montages. Comedian portraits and montages Science Fiction-Doctor Who montages Sporting Stars Portrait Montages Figurative I am published by Buckingham Fine Arts (Limited Edition Prints) in 2006 and Newcomers Gallery (Open Edition Prints) in 2002 and 2004.
