ABOUT RAHUL PARMAR

I have been in this field of Intellectual Property (IP) and innovation management for almost over 21 years, wherein prior to founding, I have worked as a Lead IP Professional in-house IP team with the General Electric Global Research, India and as a Senior IP Attorney at CPA Global, India. During my time at General Electric, I have managed to develop portfolios for smart grid systems, medical imaging and devices, and hybrid electric vehicles. At CPA Global, I was managing a team of IP attorneys involved in research and advisory in global IP laws, IP docketing and renewal software development, and client engagements along with my involvement in institutionalizing IP training across organization. In December 2016, I co-founded and has successfully provided IP advisory services to some of the world’s most innovative companies, foreign law firms, new age start-ups, individual inventors, universities, and NGOs. My work domain involves formulating IP strategy, managing IP portfolio, performing IP due diligence, driving IP commercialization through licensing or product development, establishing IP processes, and preparing reference manuals. I have managed to gain the expertise in the following areas: a) Drafting and Prosecuting patent applications in Electrical, Mechanical, Telecommunications, Computing Technologies, Medical Devices, and Business methods. b) Helping Business entities and Inventors with building strategic IP portfolios and Global Filing Strategy. c) Legal Opinions on Patentability, Infringement, Freedom to operate, Validity/Invalidity, etc. d) Identifying new entities with strong patent portfolio for funding or acquisitions opportunities. e) Evaluating technology trends, providing competitive/technology insights, and drafting various licensing or joint-development agreements: IP Advisory and Management, Patent Drafting & Prosecution, Patent Research & Analytics, IP Licensing, IP Commercialization, Technology Transfer, Trademark, Copyright, Designs, Software & Technology Licensing Agreements, Join-Development Agreements. I have also authored an international paper on ‘Digital Rights Management Systems’ that has been cited by several international patents. Along with this, I was selected as one of the patent experts to attend a prestigious Asian IP training program conducted by Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation in partnership with Japanese Patent Office.
