About Parabita Basu
With a Ph.D degree in Forestry (specialization in Wildlife Science) I have 10+ years of experience in the areas of natural resource and wildlife management, landscape ecology, climate change adaptation, landscape restoration, maternal and child health etc. I have been using state of the art GIS and remote sensing technologies in answering various question in the above mentioned fields. The other involvement of mine revolves around community and women empowerment, policy and program planning etc.Leading a team of 1500+ Internet Saathis spread across the six districts of Jharkhand spreading digital literacy towards rural women. Leading GIS analysis at different administrative levels and spatial database development, management of ASHAs towards planning and monitoring the real time progress of the program aimed to improve maternal and child health status in the state of Jharkhand.Based on study recommendations the corridors and its buffer area between Gir and Girnar protected area got declared as “Eco-Sensitive Zone” under the environment protection act, 1986.
