ABOUT PAOLO VORIA
Over the past fifteen years, I’ve had the privilege of working on aerospace projects of varying scale and technological complexity, taking on both technical and managerial roles. I began my career as a Flight Test Engineer at Tecnam, where I learned what it means to plan and execute a flight test campaign for aircraft certification, analyzing flight data and managing operations in highly demanding environments, where even a small error can have significant consequences. I then continued in the testing domain, contributing to more complex programs such as the P.1HH drone by Piaggio Aerospace and the M346 jet trainer for Leonardo Aircraft, deepening my expertise in advanced technologies like fly-by-wire systems. At Leonardo Helicopters, I worked as a Flight Control System Engineer on the AW609 tiltrotor, specializing in safety-critical embedded software development through a Model-Based Design approach, and in verification and validation activities leveraging on the use of both Iron Bird and digital twin assets. With my transition to Leonardo Electronics, I moved from a purely technical role to a managerial one within the CTO group of an avionics line of business, where I learned how essential it is to connect technology, strategy, and people, contributing to the development of new products and business opportunities. My participation in Leonardo’s Business Innovation Factory program also provided formal training in Open Innovation and the startup ecosystem, further strengthening my entrepreneurial approach to innovation. Driven by the desire for a more dynamic and competitive environment, I joined Sidereus Space Dynamics, a company developing a miniaturized space launcher designed to enable faster and more sustainable access to orbit. At Sidereus, I’ve been able to leverage all the skills gained throughout my career, taking on a managerial role overseeing the company’s technical and organizational coordination. Beyond the typical Program Management responsibilities, I led the company’s transformation from an early-stage startup into a more structured yet still agile organization, strengthening processes across R&D, team management, supply chain, and business development.
