ABOUT PAMIR ROY
As a Research Scientist at the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO, I apply my skills and knowledge in geoinformatics and AI/ML to assess risks from natural hazards such as landslides and glacial lake outburst floods. My work is aimed at enhancing the disaster preparedness and management of the vulnerable regions using remote sensing and GIS techniques. I hold a Master of Technology degree in Geoinformatics from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, where I graduated as the topper of my batch. I also have a Bachelor of Technology degree in Civil Engineering from the Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management. My passion for learning and taking up new challenges led me to conduct original research on the prediction of landslide locations using machine learning algorithms, which was published by Springer Nature in 2022. I have also obtained multiple certifications in geospatial techniques, Google Earth Engine, and Python programming from reputed institutions. I am an active participant in various sports and music activities, which have helped me develop my communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. I am looking forward to making a positive impact on the society by working on projects that leverage my GIS and remote sensing expertise.
