I am an Assistant Professor of Interior Design whose research investigates the intersection of furniture, life transitions, and human well-being. With over 20 years of professional experience in residential and commercial interiors, particularly in affordable housing, I bring a practice-based perspective to academic inquiry.My current research examines how furniture can serve as a stabilizing force during significant life transitions, such as recovery from displacement, reintegration after homelessness, or relocation following a disaster. Through Furniture for New Beginnings, a nonprofit initiative and research platform, I will collaborate with students to design and provide furnishings to individuals in transition while collecting data on how supportive interior environments contribute to resilience and quality of life.My teaching bridges studio-based learning with real-world application, incorporating evidence-based design, universal design principles, life safety, and material culture. I integrate digital tools, such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with life skills like Presentation, into the curriculum to prepare students for professional practice.
