ABOUT PAMELA DAVIS

Advocating for environmental causes, the arts, and human potential. This next chapter of my career is more about listening, encouraging and advising from perspectives and best practiced learned from my wonderful former colleagues and those we worked with and for - NGO, universities and charities. My professional career started in the US as the president of the Virginia Chapter of the National Committee or the Prevention of Child Abuse. I saw first hand the power of bringing money to the mission. In the UK and while I was studying for my PhD, I was invited to join a charitable trust as a trustee and reviewing 50 + applications gave me insight into how charities must engage their potential funders with compelling narratives and financial plans. However, to be given the opportunity to lead the University of Cambridge Development Office\'s fundraising team at the launch of the first significant campaign that raised over £1 billion, was a an unparalleled experience. Those of us who saw it through gained a deep understanding of the true power that collaborative, supportive and professional fundraising by the Colleges, the University, senior volunteers and academics can bring to a bold and ambition vision. I developed and taught Fundraising on the MBA course at the Cambridge Judge Business School and became part of a group of lecturers for the Masters in Conservation Leadership programme at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative. This is extraordinary example of a dream becoming reality through philanthropy.
