Evaluate and assess patients, recognize,manage and address complications related to chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressue, and coordinate treatment with other members of high-risk OB care team. Coordinate overall patient care with specialists, physicians and other departments and ancillary staff. Review and track progress of mothers in labor, interpret fetal heart monitor, preform cervical exams, assist during induction procedures, deliveries and postpartum period. Initial and ongoing newborn care. Administer medications, titrate drips and manage PCA pumps while monitoring patients for reactions and side effects. Act as patient advocate by supporting and respecting basic rights, values and beliefs. Record patient condition, vital signs, progress and medication side effects. Prepare patients for Cesarean Sections, assist in OR as primary or circulating RN. Recover in PACU, administering medications to manage progression off anesthesia medications, and promote recovery. Monitor patient pain levels and administer medication to diminish patient discomfort.
