Directs an award-winning team of 17-20 communications professionals with extensive experience in public and employee communications, media relations, Web development and design, graphic design and desktop publishing, video production and photography, search engine optimization, social media, brand management, document development, marketing, and advertising. This team supports all communications and marketing activities of ORAU and the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).• Develops and oversees execution of strategic communications, social media, and advertising plans for the organization. Recent examples include an internal and external communications plan for a series of Active Shooter Emergency Preparedness Exercises and updated brand guidelines.• Provides advice and guidance to senior leadership team for strategic internal and external communications. Develops presentations, talking points, and collateral materials in support of key initiatives. Special projects have included leading the team that applied for and won six Quality Awards for the ORAU Business Operations Division: four Tennessee Quality Awards and two Department of Energy Quality Awards; serving on the Voluntary Protection Program application team that resulted in VPP Star Status for ORISE in 2003 and 10 consecutive VPP Star of Excellence Awards and three consecutive Legacy of Stars awards. • Directs ORAU Community Relations activities - involves management of the Extreme Classroom Makeover program, Education Grants, and construction of two ORAU-sponsored Habitat for Humanity homes.• Responsible for all aspects of Communications and Marketing operations and deliverables. Implemented project management system in order to better manage the 2,500+ projects that are produced each year.• Oversee development and production of large-scale documents—such as the 150-page retrospective report, ORISE Impact Book—striving for on-time delivery within budget and with highest quality.
