About Pallavi Sastry
I am deeply committed to bridging the gender gap in technology and actively contribute to organizations like Girls Who Code as Co-President. In this role, I oversee outreach initiatives, curriculum design, and student engagement while fostering a love for programming and nurturing young talent. As a recipient of Palantir\'s National Women in Technology Scholarship, I am passionate about leveraging technology to make a positive impact and excited to contribute to the advancement of women in the tech industry.During my time as a Data Reporter at The Daily Tar Heel, I honed my skills in data analysis, visualization, and data-driven journalism. This experience, combined with my proficiency in Python, R, and research methodologies, enables me to deliver impactful insights and create engaging visualizations. My most impactful project was working on an article that used data science to uncover concerning disparities in grade distribution within racial subgroups of students in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. This experience taught me the profound impact of data science and journalism in amplifying underrepresented voices and uncovering injustices. My background as a CS Teaching Assistant and Python instructor has equipped me with strong communication and mentoring skills. I excel in guiding students in Python programming fundamentals and encouraging their growth in the field. By adapting to each student\'s unique needs and maintaining regular communication with parents, I ensure a tailored learning experience that fosters growth and achievement.I am looking to pursue a career in software engineering, leveraging my diverse experience and passion for empowering others in the field of technology.
