About Hector Rivera

I am a Multi-Lingual Queer Puerto Rican Arts Administrator from the Bronx. My works trajectory has centered engaging children, families, people with Disabilities and all people of NYC in the arts through workshops, performing arts experiences and reciprocal community building! Professionally I do this work in community and through institutions. Additionally and simultaneously I have been facilitating conversations on Race and Racism nationally and internationally for the last 8 years. I am a learner and product of my ancestors who guide me, the NYC public school system and the son of my Mother. My upbringing in community organizing coupled with over a decade of work in the NYC cultural sector, has brought me to my current role supporting staff access the training they need to better understand and develop strategies and best practices in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, expanding audience engagement efforts through my community engagement initiatives that leverage institutional resources to break down barriers to accessing the arts and finally leading our accessibility team and cross departmental access committee to holistically advance the accessibility of our physical spaces, artistic work and internal policies and procedures.
