About Paighton Brooks

Paighton\'s passions lie in breaking down barriers for underserved populations, political and legal advocacy, and community engagement/prevention work. Following graduation from the University of Louisville, Paighton worked as a Domestic Violence Coordinator at a nonprofit organization providing advocacy and support to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual violence. She now works on Capitol Hill serving as a Staff Assistant in the Office of U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and previously served as a Congressional Intern in the Office of Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (AL-07).During her time in college, Paighton engaged in programs, internships, and campus involvement related to law and public policy. In the summer of 2023 Paighton was accepted into the 2023 cohort for the TRIALS Program (Training and Recruitment Initiative for Admission to Leading Law Schools) in partnership with Harvard Law School and NYU School of Law. Additionally, Paighton served as a legal intern for Goldberg Simpson, LLC, a legislative intern at the Kentucky State Legislature for State Senator David Yates, and was heavily involved in the Student Government Association at the University of Louisville.Paighton is also a 2024 Kentucky Derby Festival Princess and the 2023 University of Louisville Homecoming Queen.
